🇬🇧 Clever Leadership!

You know that blessed visit, sent by GOD, to help us, with ideas for add up and multiply!?

Such was the visit of Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, bringing his wife and children to him, after that great victory at the Red Sea!

After hearing the wonderful story of the enormous feat lived by Moses and all the people, behold, Jethro observes an unnecessary sacrifice to which his son-in-law was submitting.

Moses was ALONE trying to solve the demands, all day long, of approximately 600,000 men not counting the number of women! It is estimated that there were almost 3 million people under his leadership!!

Think of that heavy load!! No human being could bear such thing no matter how skillful and blessed he was!!

His father-in-law was emphatic in telling Moses that he would be totally exhausted, if he continued to serve those people like that! Neither he nor the people would be satisfied, even in the face of so much effort and sacrifice!

It was then that Jethro was used by GOD to give him a brilliant and practical idea:

‘And thou — thou dost provide out of all the people men of ability, fearing God, men of truth, hating dishonest gain, and hast placed [these] over them, heads of thousands, heads of hundreds, heads of fifties, and heads of tens, and they have judged the people at all times; and it hath come to pass, every great matter they bring in unto thee, and every small matter they judge themselves; and lighten it from off thyself, and they have borne with thee. (Exodus 18:21‭-‬22).

Did you understand this Organization Chart?

A) The head/leader of 10 people would report to the head of 50, who would only deal with 5 leaders.

B) This head of 50 would report to the head of 100, who in turn would only deal with 2 leaders (the two heads of 50).

C) This leader of 100 would report to the head of 1000, who would only deal with 10 leaders (who are these heads of 100).

D) Only the leaders of 1000 would report to Moses, if they could not find a solution to some more difficult issue.

Wow!! The sea opened again for Moses with this idea that brought him relief!! 🙂 GOD provides rest to us!

Look at the drawing I made in a very rustic way, 🙂 but it gives an idea of how this division of tasks and responsibilities was.

Here are 3 fundamental pillars that Moses needed to add to his leadership:

1. Selecting capable and trustworthy people;
2. Delegating responsibilities;
3.Working as a team.

Even being used by GOD in an incredible way, Moses had enough humbleness to accept the good idea, which would change his extremely difficult routine.

Jethro was sent to give Moses relief and rest. Do you remember something? CHRIST was sent to give us relief and rest!!

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Said the LORD JESUS – Matthew 11:28).

It’s a very simple invitation. An idea that, when accepted, completely changes our lives forever!
